Use Liquid EPDM for Fast and Easy RV Roof Repairs

You want to have a great time when you are out on the road camping and traveling in your RV. The last thing you want to do is worry about a leak in your roof. It can quickly put a damper on your spirits and your trip, and it can cause some serious problems with the RV. After all, you do not want to have any mold and mildew in the RV, and you do not want to deal with the expense of water damage. Fortunately, when you use liquid EPDM called Liquid Roof, it is easy to take care of leaks.

For an Emergency

Of course, you might not always have this handy when you are on the road. Therefore, you will want to have some type of emergency measure that you can use just in case you have a leak and you do not have the liquid EPDM, or the weather doesn’t permit it being applied. For example, some roof repair tape should always be available in your RV. You can use this temporary fix until you can get to a location where you can apply the Liquid Roof, which would typically be at home.

Check the Leaks: Seal Small Leaks and Apply a Patch to Larger Holes

Before you simply apply the liquid EPDM, you need to inspect the area of the leak and make sure it is not so large that you will need a professional to take care of it. Clean the area around the leak, and then use sealants for small leaks, and a fiberglass patch for those leaks that are somewhat larger. Again, you will only want to apply these patches to areas that have been thoroughly cleaned. This will allow the patch to stay in place.

Add a Coat of EPDM

While the patch can help to prevent the rain from getting down into the RV, you should also make sure that you then add a coat of liquid EPDM to the roof. This will help to ensure that you do not have any more leaks. This is a durable material that will go on quite easily. In fact, it applies just like paint and provides a nice coating of durable, protective material that will keep the roof and the RV safe.

In addition, if you have several patches on your roof from the repairs that you made, you will find that this coating is going to cover up those unsightly patches quite nicely. It gives the roof a uniform, white appearance that’s going to look great.

One of the other nice things about this is the fact that the white is going to help reflect the sunlight rather than absorb it, which means that it will be much easier for you to control the temperatures within the RV. This is very useful for those who tend to travel and stay in hot areas during their travels.

Take Good Care of Your RV Roof

Always take the time to inspect your RV roof, and the inside of your RV, at least a couple of times each year. This will let you see if there is any damage to the roof that could end up causing problems for you down the road. It is always best to be proactive when it comes to taking care of the roof. The sooner you find and fix the problems, the easier they will be to handle. If you wait too long, the repairs– and what it will cost to fix them – will be much larger.
